Double Feature: Merry Christmas! My Holiday Recap

Hello everyone! I'm back at my computer after a week of vacation and a week of being very sick. After my last update I headed back home to visit my family for Christmas, which was fun and delicious. I've been under a lot of stress between school and Christmas gifts and such, so I made it a point to spend this week relaxing. Unfortunately, the result of this has been that I got absolutely no photos to share! So, this is going to be a boring update with not very many pictures to share.

While I was in town I got to visit some old friends as well as eat at some of my favorite restaurants growing up. Since I grew up in the Silicon Valley, going home is always really surreal because the city just keeps developing so rapidly. These days there are always new technologies being tested out in my neighborhood, and so many new restaurants each time I go back. It's really cool, though a little bit sad to see some old places from my childhood be replaced.
This Christmas was especially fun, because my boyfriend was able to come with me too! My family was really pleased to get to spend more time with him and get to know him better.

I didn't get any full outfit pictures, so here's the best OOTD I have on hand from Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve was spent at my aunt and uncle's house with lots of family. We went out for Japanese food for dinner and then spent the rest of the night relaxing and eating Christmas cookies. The next day I made it a point to stay in my pajamas all day while we opened presents. I really like what everyone got for me this year (I'll write about it in a separate post) and everyone really liked what I got them, even the one person who got a duplicate gift.

On the 26th it was afternoon tea with my friend and her family. I really appreciate this recent tradition (I'm making it a tradition, anyway) and I think the day after Christmas is the perfect time for it, since Christmas kind of marks the last major thing of the year to stress over before the new year comes. It's nice to just relax with some friends over super delicious tea. The past two years we've gone to Lisa's Tea Treasures which serves really nice tea alongside yummy finger sandwiches, scones, eclairs and other treats. The decorations inside are super cute and ornate. It feels like being inside a grandmother's dollhouse, or something! I want to treat myself out to high tea more this year. I'll just have to find some people to go with. Unfortunately it had been a while since my friends and I last had high tea (a whole year, to be exact!) so we all forgot that it's not exactly a meal so much as a snack between meals, so having saved up our appetites, we were all still hungry and ended up eating most of the adult's sandwiches as well as the ones meant for our end of the table.
Afterwards my friends and I went thrift shopping and picked up some Mexican food to eat while we went back to feed our friend's (super adorable) golden retriever.

Unfortunately I got pretty sick the day I was supposed to go home, and the long car ride home definitely didn't make me feel any better... the result being that I was stuck in bed not fully knowing what day it was all the way up to New Years Eve. I wasn't exactly feeling up to going out that night, but at least I was back to eating normally and was actually awake for most of the day! Since I was stuck at home anyway, and since New Years Eve 2015 is (mostly) canonically when the events of End of Evangelion took place, I spent my New Years re-watching it. Despite watching the series multiple times, I never got around to watching the movie more than once, so I was overdue for a re-watch anyway. As much as I still greatly prefer the TV ending, the movie ending definitely has it's merits, and re-watching it again made the similarities between the two endings more apparent to me.

Happy New Years!

Unfortunately, my suitcase was left at home by accident, so I can't take pictures of anything I got while I was back home. I'll have an update with my thrift store purchases as well as what I got for Christmas later.

Thanks for reading!
