At long last, we returned to Tokyo! Since I wanted to maximize space in my suitcase, I tried to pack super light this time.
Packing List
Tops:
- RETRO GIRL mock neck top
- ems excite blouse
- 3 t-shirts
- Liz Lisa cardigan
Bottoms:
- Liz Lisa long skirt
- MA*RS short skirt
- black leggings
Inner:
- Gelato Pique safety shorts
- UNIQLO HEATTECH tops (2 pairs)
- black thermal tights (2 pairs)
- nude dance tights (2 pairs)
- black thigh highs (2 pairs)
Shoes:
- Doc Martens
I did a lot of research ahead of time and knew basically what I wanted to buy, so I tried to match what I brought to what I was planning to get. At the end of the day, a lot of my planned buys didn't come through, either because of sizing or because the item was out of stock in person. Still, I'm glad that I took this approach since I think I managed to make some really cute outfits during my trip with my packed and purchased items!
I made sure to take an ootd pic every day so I could see what I will actually wear for next time. One takeaway from this trip is that I packed way too many Tshirts. In California, tshirt and leggings is a good go-to for lazy days and I need outfits like that on most trips. But I find that everyone in tokyo dresses so nicely, I always feel extremely out of place when I wear this outfit there! So, I think in the future just 1 or at most 2 plain tshirts (1 for the plane, 1 for pajamas) will be plenty.
Buys
MA*RS
2 cardigans and a garter belt
Axes Femme
2 OPs
2 JSKs
1 skirt & 1 underskirt
1 pair of shoes
1 pair of earrings
Axes Femme is always very hit or miss for me, but I had a lot of luck this time! Their sizing was the most generous of all the brands I shopped and this season's designs were really cute for both casual and lolita styles!
Liz Lisa
Long Sleeve Sailor Setup in Black
Bijou heart bracelet
I'm so disappointed, since I washed the sailor setup at our airbnb and I didn't have my usual laundry supplies, this ended up getting ruined after just 1 wash! I love the way it looks so much, but I couldn't justify buying a second one... I have some ideas for stain removal but I'll have to see how it goes.... Next time I come to Japan I will definitely add color catchers to my packing list!!
Secret Honey
1 cardigan
I was really surprised that a lot of Secret Honey actually fit me! There are a couple of dresses and setups that I slightly regret not buying
Kawaii Stars
2 rings and a bracelet
This was a small shop inside the Laforet which sells unique collections of jewelry from many different (I assume local?) artists! There were so many cute collections, and the man working there was sooo nice and friendly! He even went above and beyond the typical "nihongo jouzu" and boldly claimed that he assumed I must live there based on how well I spoke I wonder if they realize when they say these things that we both know it's a lie LOL
He let me know that they change their collections every 2 weeks, so I will definitely follow their instagram from now on to meet lots of lovely indie artists!
Offbrand
Audrey Harajuku
NOEMIE
Random shops in Shibuya 109
I noticed a lot of offbrand shops seem to sell the same collections of cheaper items that were all very in trend, probably all sourced from the same aliexpress seller.
I'm sure I could get these cheaper somewhere online, but to me there is value in the curation these shops put in. Since I can afford it, I went ahead and supported them anyway.

Overall, it was soooooo nice to finally be back. Even though I've only visited once, Tokyo is the kind of city that's easy to feel like you're coming home to it. Coming home, I'm feeling jet lagged, inspired, and extremely eager to return!
Until next time~
